Regional District area director is a publicly elected, local official, paid to participate on the Board that makes about 1500 informed, collective decisions over a 4 year term as delegated by provincial legislation. The Board represents corporation’s governmental public interests and the employees act in the corporation’s operational interests. Goal of balancing the two interests is a sustainable livable region.

SCRD purpose
Political : the discretionary allocation of resources or power.
Discretion: the degree/amount is proportional to decision consequences.
Control. Influence. Concern.
Board role: Maker of decisions, collective created, for which the administration is not authorized. Oversight of administration’s provision of services and prevention of fraud, bribery and corruption.
Committees: Report to Board with decision recommendations and information.
Voting: Directors must vote if in attendance and not in a conflict of interest. Gradient of agreement
Directors role: Represent the public interest on behalf the Area F Constituency: and provides assistance for people working with the SCRD and other government service providers. Represents the Area’s interests to other political units and areas . Oath of office.
Finances – First Regional Districts accounts differently than Municipalities. The expenses to run routine services we consume are paid through taxes and charges. Taxes are based on the property. A charge is used when the service use is easily measured. Senior government provides funding assist and mainly for projects needing an extra boast to complete.
